The Medicare carriers we represent in San Diego County

We are an independent agency, which means we are not employed by any one insurance company. We are appointed with several carriers that serve San Diego County, and we compare them side by side against your doctors, your prescriptions and your budget. Our recommendation is not driven by which company we represent — it is driven by which plan actually works for you.

Why the carrier matters less than the network

Most people start by asking which company is best. It is the wrong first question. What determines whether a plan works for you is narrower and more personal: is your primary care doctor in the network, are your specialists in it, is the hospital you would want to use contracted, and are your prescriptions on the formulary at a tier you can afford. Two plans from the same carrier can differ completely on all four. We check every one of those before you sign anything.

What we compare for you

• Provider network — your current doctors, specialists and preferred hospital, verified plan by plan
• Drug formulary — each of your prescriptions, at the tier and cost you would actually pay
• Monthly premium and out-of-pocket maximum — what it costs when nothing happens, and what it costs when something does
• Extra benefits — dental, vision, hearing, transportation and over-the-counter allowances vary widely between plans
• Star ratings — Medicare’s own quality and member-satisfaction score for each plan

Plans change every year, even when you do not

Carriers can adjust networks, formularies, premiums and extra benefits for each January. A plan that was ideal last year can quietly become a poor fit. That is what the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7, is for — and it is why we review our clients’ plans every autumn rather than enrolling them once and disappearing.
